The Holiday Season: Ready Or Not, Here It Comes! Dec. 2004

Ready or not, it's here again: The holiday season, Christmas, New Year, winter, cold weather . it's all here. And to drive the point home, daylight is getting shorter, and the trees are almost bare. So, how does that make you feel and what are you waiting for?
Would you be surprised if I told you that I actually look forward to winter? Perhaps it is because of what it means, ends and beginnings, a new start, a new chance to review past year and a second chance at making new resolutions!
Animals are really clever, this is the time when many hibernate, save up their energies, so that they can face life again when it is time to resurface. That is how I deal with winter too!
Since moving to England, 14 years ago, I have grown to appreciate the change of seasons . it's sets a natural rhythm to our lives...so you won't catch me participating in our national sport: complaining about the weather!

I look forward to winter because it seems to me that nature is forcing us to slow down, hibernate, and change our patterns. This could translate into having an early evening at home, cuddling up with a good book, spending time with family, or changing routines.
In other words, to switch gears, gather your energies to get in shape and emerge renewed! This is also a time of unity and harmony, when many religious holidays seem to take place. Diwali, Eid, Thanksgiving, Hanukah, and soon we have the Christmas holiday season. Not bad, when the calendar now unites what humans beings find a difficult task to do! The full moon promises huge changes- for the better.
So, what's on your list for new resolutions? And why wait for the New Year? Now is as good as any time to make a new start! Make the most of this hibernation:
- Pick up your pen (or key board) and start writing your 'menu' for the new year now,
- Develop and use positive affirmations,
- Give yourself a present and stack up on food for thought and order books now, to help choose, please take time to flip through the latest issue of Ps magazine for book reviews and more.
