Mindful Life Style : Inspired Living

What Is My Destiny? by Khaled Bazzi
By Khaled Bazzi

A close friend, with whom I shared a big part of 'my journey'. Khaled has designed and developed his own divination cards. He had various powerful experiences and trained in shamanic journeying techniques, which have inspired him to write and share his thoughts with others. More on his web site, link below.

Q. I have a deep longing to find out what my destiny is in terms of work/career. I have meditated on the subject but the answers don't seem to make any sense. What can you suggest?

A. The notion of destiny is indeed a topic that captures the imagination. The word itself is super-charged with pre-conceived notions and conjures up images of worldly achievements and grand happenings. Maybe the problem is that you're not finding the answers you want.

It could very well be that before you meditated on the subject you already had pre-conceived notions and images that didn't turn up in the meditation. As a result, your mind did not register the alternatives to your pre-existing ideas.

The pre-conceived notions of what we are destined to do with our lives are tied-in with childhood dreams, educational, parental and societal expectations, as well as ego-based fantasies. These coalesce into ideas that can dwarf the truth of what will fulfil you the most, as that's what it's ultimately about. What you imagine will fulfil you, and what actually will; can be miles apart.

Also, for many of us who are on a 'spiritual' path, we feel that our destiny has to be tied-in with a lot of what we have read. And that's clearly understandable when so many mind-body-spirit books are about how someone dropped their high-pressure job to start a more holistic career (as well as write a book about it). Remember that's their path, it has nothing to do with you. Use them as inspiration, not as a gauge.

Do your meditation again, but this time, truly clear your mind of ideas, hopes, dreams, visions, and ideas. Be genuinely open to all that comes up and don't interpret or reject any of it until you're done. Then write down everything that came through during the meditation, and observe what comes up over the following days. Answers come in all shapes and forms, so be really alert. You might be surprised at what you'll find.

Your destiny is what you create and live out every moment of every day, every day of your life. Ultimately, it's to remember that you are already truly great, a spark of Divine Creation, right here, right now, whatever you're doing, wherever you are. All that is already yours; remember it and enjoy it!
