Mindful Life Style : Inspired Living

In The Wake Of The Tsunami Disaster
By Khaled Bazzi

A close friend, with whom I shared a big part of 'my journey'. Khaled has designed and developed his own divination cards. He had various powerful experiences and trained in shamanic journeying techniques, which have inspired him to write and share his thoughts with others.

In the wake of the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia, while watching the horror unfold on TV, there was one prevailing question for everyone: Why? Why so many lives lost? From there, we start to think about the spiritual meaning of such an enormous tragedy.

For those of us who have spiritual or religious beliefs, our faith is truly tested in times like these, even if we didn't suffer any direct loss.

But as the days following the disaster unfolded, the world's overwhelming response to the disaster was stunning.  So we do care, that's comforting to know.  But still, the questions persist, why? Why so many lives lost?

"Earth sees us, the Human Race, as one single organism too.  It does not differentiate between people as we do."

Those who have been in tune with Earth's changes have been aware of the tumult of the last decade or so leading up to these times.  The Earth is a living organism; it has a soul and sensory perception just like us.  Earth sees us, the Human Race, as one single organism too.  It does not differentiate between people as we do.

Everyone will agree that we have been subjecting our planet to much ill treatment over the last century, and aside from theories about weather change and global warming, on an energetic level, there is certainly no doubt that we take out more from this world than we put back in.

This is no crass suggestion that we are being punished. Rather, Earth is in pain; if you are in pain, you wince, you move, you writhe, you stir. This translates into natural disasters, and sadly we get caught up in their midst.

"We need to put that collective negative self-image behind us once and for all."

The South East Asian disaster has shown us that not only do we care, but we are also willing to respond generously and speedily. Surely this proves that, contrary to popular belief, we don't live in a selfish, dog-eat-dog, every-man-for-himself world, as we so often hear. We need to put that collective negative self-image behind us once and for all.

On the highest level, the message is, as always, that we are one.  No life is wasted and what is lost here is not permanently lost; all life springs from and remains within Source.  In truth, there is no separation between Earth and all its creatures and Spirit.  This is all a grand, if at times frightening and painful, illusion.

The call to see beyond this illusion is ever-present, be it in times of celebration or in times of pain.  This might be of little comfort to those who have lost entire families and their livelihood.  But it is up to those of us who are more peripheral to hold that vision and faith for them.  Of course sending our love in monetary form is extremely important right now and in times to come.

"The world's response to the tsunami disaster has been the proof of how governments can take their cue from the people."

Moving forward, we should continue to think of how we can extend a helping hand outside times of trouble and trauma; how we can be of service to our world all year round.  In future, before we criticise governments for not doing enough, we need to do more than enough ourselves.  The world's response to the tsunami disaster has been the proof of how governments can take their cue from the people.

When we all start seeing our planet as a living being that carries us as we hurtle through space, we will find more harmonious ways of getting our needs met.  This is already happening, we just need to keep up all that good work and take it further than we might even imagine possible.

Our help is always needed in this world, and while it's wonderful to be able to reach out in times of crisis, it's even more important to always see the rest of humanity as our extended family, because, as genetic science has proved recently, that's exactly what it is.

Even without deep spiritual beliefs about oneness, and even without seeing Earth as a living being, if we all treated each other as the relatives that we are and treated our planet as the only home we have, which it is, this harmony would bring us all a little closer to heaven.
