I was thinking of how I could evolve the question/answer format of Inspired writing for the coming months and I've come up with 'Soul Chat', between me and intuition, resulting in a series of conversations on similar themes of exploring consciousness and soul growth. This format seems more organic and reflects more closely the childlike way the mind keeps wanting to know more.
Q: Sometimes when I see the suffering going on in the world, I can't help but feel 'what is the point to it all', to the suffering?
A: That comes back to perspective. If you remind yourself that it is all a grand illusion, no matter how convincing it seems, then perhaps it won't seem so senseless.
Q: But of all the things that can be on display in the illusion, why suffering?
A: From every day human perspective, suffering is naturally the least desirable experience. From Spirit's perspective, it is all experience.
Q: So from Spirit's perspective, what is the difference between suffering and joy/love?
A: Spirit does not prefer one to the other.
Q: But I thought Spirit was all about love?
A: Spirit is a neutral dynamic energy. Love is what it is often called because of its all encompassing nature. However love is a human emotion. So the power of Spirit is love to the ‘enth’ degree, but not strictly love in human terms.
Q: Does that mean that there is nothing that can be done about all the suffering in the world?
A: No it doesn't mean that. What you've got to remember is that this is all experience within the illusion. No matter how convinced we are of our separateness, we are part of a wonderful dream. In Truth, there is no one there and therefore no one suffering.
Q: But how can you say that when we see all those people on TV? In the news stories of all those wars?
A: If you ask that question that means you haven't changed your perspective as we have just discussed is necessary if you wish to gain insight.
Q: I'd like to gain that insight but I'm finding it really difficult.
A: Then stop trying. Let it go. Questions keep you in your head and your mind prevents you from finding answers.
Q: So where is my understanding going to come from?
A: Trust.
Q: In what?
A: In things just as they are. That Spirit is ever-present and that nothing is lost, even in what seems like senseless suffering. And surrender to letting the answers emerge without having to ask questions, that's when the most profound revelations come. And if they don't, then trust in that too, as Truth will be revealed sooner or later.
Q: But sometimes I get frustrated and want the answers now, I want to understand now.
A: Then you must question why you want these answers so desperately. Don't forget we said that the answers are sometimes more likely to come when you stop asking questions. What is it you want to understand so desperately?
Q: My place in the world, to make sense of the universe I live in.
A: Your place in the world is not defined by you 'understanding now'. You can glimpse the Eternal and still be wondering what career path to take, or whether or not to stay in your current job or relationship. You see, finding out this is all an illusion is not some solution to all your ills, nor is it the culmination of any effort. It doesn't give you any information in the sense you might imagine.
Q: It doesn't?
A: No. It gives you a sense of 'but of course...'. Life does go on as normal for the most part afterwards.
Q: So...what is the greatest piece of advice you can give me right now?
A: Free yourself of the burden of thinking that you're going to be happy if you figure it all now. Surrender to the mystery. All answers will come in due course.
