Article first appeared in Prediction Magazine, January 04,page 20; entitled "Messages From Spirit".

A fantastic avalanche of radical new ideas burst into my head with tremendous force, as if my skull were some sort of receiving station, turned up to an unbearable volume, my body sat at the table, my hands furiously scribbling down the words and ideas that flashed through my head.

Within a short period more than one hundred pages of manuscript titled: The Physical Universe as Ideas Construction poured forth onto paper.

These were the words of Jane Roberts while unbeknownst to her at the time; this was her first contact with Seth -- "an energy personality essence no longer focused in physical form".  Seth literally dictated every word to her for nearly two decades.

After this initial monumental breakthrough, Roberts found the words easier to speak, rather than to write and became an inspired channel while her husband Robert Butts, transcribed in long hand every word Seth uttered through Jane.

Throughout the many years of channeling the Seth Material, Roberts and her husband never had to edit or change a word. To this day, Jane Roberts' work in its entirety is housed at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

The information Seth relayed through Jane Roberts was so advanced that when Dr. Eugene Barnard, an academic psychologist at North Carolina State University, entered into discussion with Seth, he was quoted as saying,  ".it was for me a delightful conversation with a personality or intelligence or what have you, whose wit, intellect and reservoir of knowledge far exceeded my own."

However, inspirational writing such as this not only happens to channeller, but also to skilled professionals.  Dr. Helen Schucman worked as a psychologist at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, when one day she heard an inner voice say, "This is a course in miracles - please take notes."  Reluctant at first, but with the encouragement and help from her colleague Dr. William Thetford, she eventually acquiesced.

Schucman was always aware of what she was writing and kept writing down the thoughts that came into her head, as she once stated,

"It's all internal. There's no actual sound and the words come mentally but very clearly. It's a kind of inner dictation you might say."

When someone suggested it was automatic writing, she answered, "It's not automatic at all; I'm perfectly aware of what I am doing."  The results were 12,000 pages of channeled inspirational writing that brought to the public the now famous book, A Course in Miracles.

These are unusual and outstanding examples of this kind of writing. Yet we don't necessarily have to set ourselves to such high standards -- there are ways to facilitate this process in a simple but powerful way!

Our brain is like a receiving station and only when we tune into the right frequency, do the messages and information become readily available - much like a radio transmitter which picks up the frequency of the cosmic memory bank (also known as the Akashic Records).

Quite often, we can become overwhelmed with too much information. It is important to focus on the subject matter and have the intention to write on a specific theme - like a search engine honing in on requested internet listings. This process activates the mind and starts the procedure.

It is the ability to literally take down the information instantaneously, without a moment's hesitation, as it forms into an identifiable pattern within the conscious mind.  People from every walk of life have been known to talk about being "in the flow" as they feel their own immersion into a unified field of potential which is readily available to all.

Below is a simple ten step method that will help to release this ability.  You will remain completely conscious of what you are writing while allowing your creative inspiration to enter and flow freely - being able to stop at any given time.

1.     Have everything at the ready paper, pen/pencil.

2.     Light a candle. Say a little prayer or affirmation and ask for Divine Guidance to inspire and protect you. You can address this to The Source, Personal Guides or to your higher self if you wish.

3.     Sit in a comfortable position and listen to a meditation tape of your choice this begins to calm the nervous system and slow down the beta activity of the brain.

4.     Now enter into meditation by concentrating on your breathing and slowing it down very gently to activate the alpha state which acts as a bridge between the conscious and subconscious mind.

5.     When you feel ready, have a symbol that you will always use to start the writing (i.e. an open door, a cross within a circle), Select a symbol that is very personal to you.

6.     Activate the writing. Now you have attuned and prepared yourself, there are numerous ways to activate the writing. Forms of activation may be the personal significance behind: (a) A recent dream (b) a particular symbol in that dream or (c) the formulation of any question.

7.     Quietly listen. The words may be heard telepathically. Begin to write, do NOT edit or evaluate. Write the first words that come to mind. Keep writing until you feel you have finished.

8.     Sit quietly afterwards and give thanks for the information you have received.  If you have used the symbol of the open door, make sure you close it when you have finished writing. This prevents unwanted ideas and thoughts from flooding your brain. Always remember you are in control and can start and stop whenever you please.

9.     Try not to read what you have written for a certain length of time - anything from a week to a month.

10.  Finally, keep a writing journal to keep track of your progress.

These steps are the most effective way I know to erase the fear of writer's block. The next time you find yourself staring at a blank page, remember these ten steps and know that there exists a spiritual/meditative process which can help awaken any literary muse.
