Attention Coffee Lovers Everywhere!

Recently, changes dictated that I should look into my diet including cutting down caffeine. Not that I am a fan of caffeine, but I do enjoy my cup of coffee in the morning, and cup of tea (more about that soon) in the afternoon.

A long and hard search into decaffeinated coffees, lead me finally to the discovery of Bewley’s Decaff fresh ground coffee at my local super market store. To my delight, the result is full flavoured coffee, free of caffeine and chemicals.

Bewley’s registered this process, known as Swiss Water Method. Surprisingly, there is more information on the product pack than there is on their web site.

One day, I hope, they would realise the potential and consider applying the same process to creating *decaffeinated Turkish coffee- another indulgent habit – not only of mine, but the entire Mediterranean. Until then, however, I will be reading the regular Turkish coffee cups at the Battersea Holistic Fair in July!

Here is some more information from their web site:

Swiss Water Decaff
"Deliciously smooth, full flavoured coffee with caramel tones. Excellent all day drinking coffee. Decaffeinated by the 100% chemical free Swiss water process.

Bewley's was established in 1840 and is one of Ireland's leading brands. Today, Bewley's remains a leading household name and is Ireland's leading supplier of quality coffees and teas.

Bewley's is best known for its select high street Cafés throughout Ireland and one common element throughout the Bewley's brand is its commitment to quality"

Helpful hint: Paul O'Toole, Bewley's Coffee Taster and Buyer, offers some helpful hint for preparing the perfect cup of coffee:

Use water that is just off the boil. Boiling water burns the coffee so remember to boil is the spoil. (The best brewing temperature lies between 91 and 96 degrees Celsius.)

* I am very grateful to a reader from the USA, who wrote in saying: "I just wanted to let you know there is a place where you can get REALLY GOOD decaffeinated Turkish coffee - happy drinking: www.natashascafe.com/html/turkish.html?GGT."
