Tania Ahsan, editor and author
P.S.: 'There is so much in a name,' what does your first name mean? Favourite colour? Soul number
(sum of the digits of your date of birth reduced to numbers between 1 and 9. example: 12.04.1956= 1+2+4+1+9+5+6=3+4+3=1)?

Tania: My name is apparently short for Titania, Queen of the Fairies. An uncle also said it means 'happy'. My favourite colour is blue. Soul number is 5.

P.S.: Why do you do what you do? When did you start? And what’s in it for you-personally?

Tania: I've always known that I would be a journalist and I've always known that I'm interested in spirituality and things beyond our five senses. I do what I do because I enjoy finding out more about things and then passing that information on. I personally get job satisfaction and the knowledge that I didn't compromise on my dreams.

P.S.: A Turning point: Was there a teacher, a book, or an event that inspired/influenced what you do, or started you on your path?

Tania: My father has always been a direct influence on my spiritual growth. My mother has been a more practical influence in that she has taught me moral certitude and has instilled the qualities of generosity, kindness and a complete inability to take bullsh*t from anyone! They are my primary teachers and inspiration.

P.S.: An unusual or special memory of an experience (or ‘extra-ordinary’ one), that still sticks in your mind? What was the significance of it for you, etc.?  (Something that you do not mind sharing)

Tania: There was a day in the height of summer when I was at university that a group of my friends and I decided to go punting on the river Cherwell in Oxford. I remember deciding to lie on the flat bow of the punt with my head backwards out over the side. As my friend punted and my other friends lazed inside the punt, I saw the water as my sky and the sky as my earth and I didn't care that my hair was trailing in the river water because the sun bouncing off the surface of the water was like stars and I had a moment of complete and utter happiness and tranquillity. I still remember that moment (at the tail end of a lovely picnic and in the company of good friends) as being perfection itself.

P.S.: What are you working on currently, and what’s your next project?

Tania: I'm currently finishing up a book on dreams (to complement workshops I'm running) and then I'll be working on a memoir.

P.S.: A favourite book or quote you were inspired or influenced by?

Tania: Lots of them but the latest one which made me smile is: I think...therefore I'm single. By Lizz Winstead. I think that quote sums up why I'm still single. :-)

P.S.: You are going on a much deserved holiday, what treasured items are you most likely to always pack and take with you?

Tania: My tarot cards, a journal, nice writing paper and my ink painting materials.

P.S.: What would you like to be when you 'grow up'?

Tania: I don't want to grow up! I suppose I'd like to become a full time writer and artist at some point.

P.S.: When you are not working, how do you have fun?

Tania: I'm always working!! On the rare occasions that I get time off, I like going to the cinema and having catch-up drinks with friends. I also love hiking but haven't been able to go for some time.

P.S.: If there is a next life, what would you choose to come back as? Why?

Tania: I'd choose not to come back if I possibly could. Seems a bit repetitive really.

P.S.: If there is no next life, how do you imagine you’d be spending your time 'up there' anyway?

Tania: There is no concept of time 'up there' so I couldn't spend it. There's also no guarantee that I'm going 'up there', life isn't over yet and so I might do something to necessitate going 'down there'. Either way, I'm hoping to sleep in more and have long bubble baths.
