Brand New Series: Ever since she was a young girl, Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt ) has been able to see and talk to dead people - earthbound spirits who have yet to cross over to the other side and who seek her help in communicating and resolving unfinished business with the living. Melinda sometimes has a hard time accepting her 'gift,' especially now that she's a newlywed and looking forward to starting her new life with her husband, Jim Clancy (David Conrad ), a paramedic.

Her friend and business partner in the antique store, Andrea Moreno (Aisha Tyler ), is fascinated by Melinda's talent. Although Melinda embraces her unique abilities as a blessing and sometimes a curse, she always helps her .clients - alive or dead - find emotional closure. In the premiere episode, Melinda is contacted by the spirit of a soldier who says he is lost. Melinda thinks he may not realise that he is dead so she does some research and discovers that he was classified MIA in 1972. However, when she contacts the soldier's son about his father, he thinks Melinda is trying to scam him and now Melinda must find a way to help both father and son find closure. About The Show
 Inspired by the work of famed medium James Van Praagh, Ghost Whisperer is a drama about a young newlywed named Melinda
Gordon (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt of Party of Five) who has a unique ability to communicate with the earthbound spirits of people who have died and who seek her help. Melinda has had the gift since childhood and uses it to help restless spirits with unfinished business who are unable to pass over to the other side.
In turn, Melinda helps the living by relaying significant messages and important information from these spirits, thereby providing deeply moving and important closure. Melinda's new husband, Jim Clancy (played by David Conrad of Profiler), is supportive, but worries about the emotional toll this work has on his wife as they embark on their new life together.
Melinda's best friend and business partner, Andrea Moreno (played by Aisha Tyler of CSI), is fascinated with Melinda's talent and is curious about the dilemmas of those who need her. Often, the information Melinda receives is incomplete and she must put together the puzzle pieces of what to say to the survivors.
Sometimes the messages she receives are intense and confusing and she is met with questions and skepticism by the survivors. But, when Melinda is able to help both the lost souls who contact her and those who are still alive, she knows that her unique talent is an asset and not a liability.
The CBS drama is produced by Sander/Moses Productions in association with Touchstone Television and Paramount Television. Executive Producers are John Gray, Kim Moses, Ian Sander and John Wirth. Co-Executive Producer is James Van Praagh.
